Give or Receive?

When planning the programming of FIRE! art video we face the dilemma as if that genre shows its condition through its own art. Inwardly thoughts we can assume that Zara Hadid makes feminine architecture with its curving designs or that Norman Foster shows his masculinity with his cement phallic designs.

But, to whom does Erwin Blumenfeld, Maya Deren or Leigh Bowery focus their works? All of the use to communicate their sensitivity and knowledge as meeting point from different approaches or shapes rather than methods.

We have based it in the singular creativity of these authors and explorers in search of what is inside their minds, rather that their gender.

We will show works from world renowned architects, photographers, filmmakers, artists, choreographers, and designers that motivate us for their courage, message and its contribution to a better society. People that think what the can give instead of what they will get when create something, and that is the approach we like.

We only have to Google "gay consumer" to realize that sometimes marketing categorizes some lifestyles to create needs to very specific targets. But the reality is that we are quite different from each other based among other, for what we consume. In Ciclic we work hard to create with the time you spend with us, and in asking more questions than answering, because we already have the advertising industry for the other.

In this edition of FIRE! We have tried to be coherent with our own contradictions, and that is why we encourage you to share with us new proposals that have grown at the edges of conventionality, the exact place where creativity has more potential.
Thank you for your time.

CÍCLIC PROGRAM

The vanguard programming of Videoarte y Formatos of FIRE! 2008 tries to show a vision of the artistic expression through the works of artists and creators aware and pride of themselves.

In the 40’s of the XX century, while Buñuel and Cocteau represented the European creative vanguard, in the USA, Maya Deren, started exploring an untouched field, where she expressed her feelings as no one had ever done before with a new narrative at the symbology’s service, or in another words, to the crudest reality.

Trisha Brown says "Everyone is furious at me because they think that I have already done everything. I also thought that until I arrived to New York and saw what Merce Cunningham was doing…"

Robert Rauschenberg gathers 10 Scientifics from Bell Laboratories for a series of performances With the interaction of Physics properties with John Cage, Lucinda Childs, Öyvind Fahlström, Alex Hay, Deborah Hay, Steve Paxton, Yvonne Rainer, David Tudor, and Robert Whitman.

Sam Wagstaff is one of the most important contemporary artists from the 70’ and 80’. The relationship between Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe was so intense that projected them and to a whole generation of New York artists to experiment art from a new prospective open to new ways of perception and synthesis of the reality.

Leigh Bowery, a creator and a work of art himself, contribution was to raise fashion to the level of art. His capability to materialize his rich inner world makes him an absolute reference to the most advanced fashion designers.

The immense constructive elegance of Victor & Rolf is as complex as their structured methodology to create a brand name, company, marketing and precision of this duet of exceptional designers.

Tom de Pékin manipulates in what seems an innocent way the illustration and basic principals of cartoonists, the music and DIY formats to shout an streetwise speech, which is funny but at the same time put on the table no solve questions of a world that is not such a perfect place for the majority of the people.
